The Flag of Iceland

Free
The flag follows the layout of the flags of other Nordic countries (like Denmark, Sweden, and Norway), but with its unique color combination reflecting Iceland's natural environment:
Blue: Represents the Atlantic Ocean that surrounds the island and the dark blue colour of the mountains when viewed from the coast.
White: Symbolizes the snow and ice that cover Iceland, as well as the geysers and waterfalls.
Red: Represents the volcanic fire found within the island's many volcanoes, particularly the glowing lava and the red heat of the earth.
The civil flag of Iceland was officially adopted in 1915, when Iceland was still part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It became the national flag upon Iceland's independence in 1944.
