The Flag of The United Kingdom

Free

The flag of The United Kingdom is called the The Union Flag, commonly known as the Union Jack, originally refering to its use on ships. It is a mix of three flags joined together:

The red cross of England (St George’s Cross)

The white diagonal cross of Scotland (St Andrew’s Cross)

The red diagonal cross of Ireland (St Patrick’s Cross)

The background is blue, with the red and white crosses layered on top. The Union Jack shows how different countries came together to make the United Kingdom.

(The Welsh dragon isn’t included because Wales was already joined with England when the flag was created.)
