Three Part Cards - Animals

Free

This Montessori-inspired 3-part cards activity introduces children to a variety of animals in a simple, engaging way.

Each set includes picture cards, word labels, and control cards that combine both image and text.

Children can match pictures to names, strengthen vocabulary, and develop reading readiness skills.

Designed to encourage independent learning and self-correction, these cards also support memory, classification, and language development while making animal learning fun and interactive.

How to Use Montessori 3-Part Cards

Montessori 3-part cards are a hands-on learning tool designed to build vocabulary, reading skills, and classification. They consist of:

  • Picture card (image only)

  • Word label (word only)

  • Control card (image + word together)

Steps to use them:

  1. Introduce the Cards – Lay out the control cards (image + word) and name each one clearly for the child.

  2. Matching Activity – Invite the child to match the picture-only cards to the correct control cards.

  3. Word Recognition – Next, have the child match the word labels to the control cards.

  4. Independent Practice – Children can self-correct by checking their matches against the control cards.

  5. Extensions – Use the cards for sorting (e.g., by type of animal, habitat) or as prompts for storytelling and further research.

This step-by-step approach encourages independence, reinforces language skills, and makes learning both visual and interactive.
